DAC SEPTEMBER 2010 LUNCHEON
FEATURING SPECIAL Guest Speaker: ALEX BURTON

Mark your calendars now because you are not going to want to miss our next luncheon:

SEPTEMBER 14th at 11:45am
Ozona Bar & Grill
4615 Greenville Avenue
Dallas, TX 75206-5009
(214) 265-9105
www.ozonagrill.com

Despite the advice of several members,  our speaker on Tuesday, September 14th, will be Alex Burton, a former local media star. Burton worked as a newsman  for television (channels 5, 39, 4) and radio station KRLD, where he was a reporter and then news commentator and then talk show host.

His North Texas experience covers the years 1962 to the present. He wrote articles for local papers and magazines and still writes something every day. His computer holds three incomplete novels and several short stories.

Burton has never been short of opinions nor a willingness to share those opinions.  He has never shied away from a question.

In fact, he hopes there will be lots of questions because then he won't have to write a speech.

FEBRUARY LUNCHEON: SPECIAL THANKS TO SIGMA CHI'S OWN RON HALL

Brothers: We had a very special event on February 9 where we got to hear from fellow Sigma Chi Ron Hall, best-selling author of Same Kind of Different as Me:

. . . While my daddy was fightin´ the big war in the Pacific, my grandmother delivered me in the farmhouse kitchen near Blooming Grove, Texas, in September 1945.  This was back in those days when country girls knew about birthin´ babies and lucky for me, because my granddaddy and the town doctor were on the bucket brigade of a barn fire that night.  I grew up in the bed of my granddad's Chevy pickup till it was time to go to school. . .

Pictures coming soon. Meanwhile, check out the rest of Ron's bio and much more here: http://www.samekindofdifferentasme.com/about.aspx
